Greater Victoria piano teacher, Susan Davis, offers private piano and theory lessons to students of all ages and interests. During her teaching career, Susan has taught a wide variety of students including pre-schoolers, special needs, elementary aged, teenagers, adults, and brain injured adults. Each new student arrives with their own unique history and learning style, so lessons are always individually tailored to enable each student to achieve their learning potential.
Susan's studio is located in Colwood within easy cycling or walking distance of 3 area schools. Students will take their lessons on her Kawai baby grand piano. With 2 accoustic pianos in her studio, the teaching and demonstrating possibilities are superb. Lessons regularly include:
- RCM exam preparation [piano and theory]
- reading lead sheets
- playing contemporary music
- recitals throughout the year at different venues
- improvisation using "Pattern Play" patterns
Most parents drive their children for lessons and there is ample parking in front of the house. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons at any time, but may also enjoy a walk to the beach or to the local bakery during the lesson time.
Susan studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music with Robin Wood [1983 - 1985] and with Winifred Wood [2002 - 2003] and received the Piano Teaching Associate Diploma [AVCM] "with distinction" from the Conservatory in 1985. She loves teaching and uses a variety of methods and styles depending on the interests and needs of each student.
